Are You Selecting The Flooring For Your Enclosed Patio?

by Janet Robinson

If you are trying to decide which flooring to select for your newly enclosed patio room, you've come to the right place.

As you shop for just the right kind of flooring, consider the following points.

  • The appearance of the floor
  • The cost
  • How easy the flooring will be to maintain.
  • The durability of the flooring material

For a look of elegance, consider selecting vinyl flooring that has the appearance of gray ash wood. This kind of flooring is very affordable. Choosing vinyl squares with a locking system means that the installation will be so easy that you can probably do the job yourself.

Sheets of vinyl flooring is another option. Selecting a porcelain pattern in neutral colors will mean that the flooring will go with any furniture and decor you place in the enclosed patio. If you aren't comfortable laying sheets of vinyl, the facility where you make your purchase will often be happy to do the installation for you.

No matter the style of vinyl you select, with the proper care it will last for a long time.

Maybe you have seen cork on walls. Cork floors hold the same appeal that cork walls do. A great benefit of selecting cork for your flooring is that it resists mold and mildew. It will be a lot tougher than you might have imagined. Plus, it is easy to maintain. Just vacuum or sweep it. When additional cleaning is necessary, use a wooden floor cleaner. Choose natural burl cork with charcoal swirls as the design. Like vinyl, cork floors are durable.

You can't go wrong with tile flooring. Terra cotta red Saltillo tile is timeless. This type of tile has an element of rustic elegance to it. For a very dramatic look, think of going with a Mexican Talavera tile that has brilliant colors in the design. Or choose Mexican tile that has only two colors, say a blue and white floral design, as the focal point.

If you have your heart set on tile, but you don't want a Mexican look, think of selecting ocean green natural slate tiles. That type of tile has the look of an ocean swirling with waves in it. Or, go with a plain color of tile that will add to the personality of your enclosed patio. For example, yellow tiles will give the room a light, sunny look.

Tile flooring is extremely durable and very easy to care for. You might need to pay special attention to cleaning grout every now and then. When that time comes, use a broom and a cleanser that doesn't need to be rinsed.
